For the last 8 years, SMA Collaboratives LLC., is proud to announce its strategic inclusion in a seven-week internship program. The hands-on, innovative internship program is run and administered by SMA’s Research and Development (“R&D”) Manager, and Cosmetic Chemist, offering strategic knowledge on the industry, the actives and regarding the formulation side.
See below what the intern, Ms. Palak S., from the 2025 Summer Internship Program, had to say about her experience with SMA Collaboratives:
“I am delighted to share that I have successfully completed my internship as an Formulation Intern with SMA Collaborative, a cosmetic ingredient supplier based in Pompano Beach, Florida.
During this 10-week experience, I had the opportunity to work on projects that strengthened both my technical and professional skills. Some of my key contributions included:
Developing a shampoo and conditioner/mask system, which taught me about emulsion science, ingredient compatibility, and performance optimization.
Reverse engineering a market blush, which gave me valuable insights into color cosmetic formulation and reconstruction.
Researching and presenting on emerging ingredients such as fibroblast growth factors and bakuchiol, enhancing my knowledge of market trends, safety, and regulatory aspects.
This internship also allowed me to explore the broader operations of a supplier company, from supporting client brands to understanding how innovative ingredients are introduced to the beauty market.
I am deeply grateful to Stephanie Tran and Gabrielle Greer for creating such a welcoming, encouraging, and collaborative environment. Their mentorship helped me grow not only as a formulator but also as a future professional in the cosmetics industry.
I am grateful for this experience, which has strengthened my passion for cosmetic product development and motivated me to keep growing in this field. I look forward to applying these skills and continuing to contribute to innovative product development in the beauty industry.”
